About Us
Our Ministry
The Krapf Project was born from Aaron Dunlop’s experience as a missionary in rural Kenya.
During his time there, he saw the need for resources and mentorship.
His burden increased as he spoke with pastors who were struggling in their ministry without adequate resources and without practical methods for studying and retaining information.
The project’s name comes from Johann Ludwig Krapf (1810-1881), the first Protestant missionary to East Africa, as well as a celebrated linguist
Though mostly unknown in the English-speaking world, Krapf’s name is still revered in East Africa.During his time there, he saw the need for resources and mentorship.
Local memorials, monuments, and museums in his honor bear witness to the Church’s debt to him. Krapf described himself as “a teacher, a book-man” who aimed to show Muslims and followers of tribal religions “the right way to salvation in the world to come.” So we think his name fits our ministry perfectly. We are currently working on a biography of Krapf, as no English biography has been published in seventy years.  His burden increased as he spoke with pastors who were struggling in their ministry without adequate resources and without practical methods for studying and retaining information.
Our team
Rev. Aaron Dunlop
Aaron is the Founder and Director of The Krapf Project.
He pastored a church in Victoria, BC, Canada for ten years before moving with his family to Kenya for two years of missions work. He now resides in Northern Ireland.
Rev. Calvin Goligher
Calvin is the Development Director for The Krapf Project.
He is the pastor of First Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sunnyvale, California.
Advisory Board
Members of the Advisory Board consists of authors, pastors, missionaries, and business men helping The Krapf Project with their wisdom, relationships, and gifts. Six members of the Advisory Board are based in East Africa, and five are in other parts of the world.
East Africa
Dr. Andrew Curry
Andrew is the pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lisburn, Northern Ireland and the Associate Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at The Master’s Seminary in Southern California.
Dr. Amal Gendi
Amal was in the corporate world for many years before entering full-time missionary work. He is the Executive Director at Arab World Ministries and the Dean of Training and Theological Education at Pioneers Canada.
Dr. Michael Haykin
Michael is Professor of Church History and Biblical Spirituality at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and at Toronto Baptist Seminary. He is also the Director of the Fuller Center for Baptist Studies.
Reference Board
Members of the Reference Board are helping to set the direction of The Krapf Project.
Dr. Michael Barrett
Michael is a minister in the Heritage Reformed Congregations, and Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Old Testament at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He is the author of Complete in Him: A Guide to Understanding and Enjoying the Gospel and Beginning at Moses: A Guide to Finding Christ in the Old Testament, both from Reformation Heritage Books.
Dr. Joel Beeke
Joel is a minister in the Heritage Reformed Congregations, and President and Professor of Systematic Theology and Homiletics at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He is editorial director for Reformation Heritage Books, and the Vice-President of the Dutch Reformed Translation Society. He is the author and editor of many books, most recently Reformed Systematic Theology (Crossway, 2019).
Dr. Michael Haykin
Michael is Professor of Church History and Biblical Spirituality at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and at Toronto Baptist Seminary. He is also the Director of the Fuller Center for Baptist Studies. He is the author of many books, including Rediscovering the Church Fathers: Who They Were and How They Shaped the Church (Crossway, 2011).

February 2025
Signed a Permission Grant with Ligonier Ministries to publish Ligonier material in Africa – February 2025.
Published The Empire of the Holy Spirit, by Dr. Haykin
December 2024
The Krapf Project edited and published Dr. Haykin’s book The Empire of the Holy Spirit in partnership with ACTS books in Nairobi. The publication of this book marked the beginning of published books in partnership with local publishers.
Published the Krapf Bio in Kenya with Ekklesia Afrika
April 2024
Aaron published an African edition of the Krapf biography with Ekklesia Afrika.
The first Workshops – Kitui, Kenya
December 2023
In partnership with Ekklesia Africa, and 100-fold who supplied miniSD cards with all our resources, we began the Krapf Academy Workshops in Kitui, Kenya. These continue throughout Kenya.
Partnership with the Shepherds Training College (Uganda)
March 2023
We officially began distributing the magazine in Uganda through the Shepherds Training College in Luweero, Uganda.
Visit to Kenya and Uganda
November 2022
Aaron took a three-week trip driving across Kenya distributing the magazine, strengthening existing connections and forging new relationships for the distribution of the magazine. He visited the Shepherds Training College in Uganda as a possible distribution point.
Partnership with Ekklesia Afrika (Kenya)
September 2022
Partnered with Ekklesia Afrika in Nairobi for distribution of the magazine.
Published the biography on Ludwig Krapf
June 2022
Aaron Completed his biography on Ludwig Krapf and published with Joshua Press, Canada.
The Pastor’s Study (magazine format)
January 2022
The Pastor’s Study developed from the single-sheep paper into a 20 page magazine to be published quarterly and distributed out of Nairobi.
Partnered with UFM
November 2021
After some months of discussion, the Krapf Project partnered with UFM Worldwide as an umbrella missionary organisation.
